Cerro Vista Apts. are only available to sophomore (and higher) students. One applies for these apartments through a lottery process (you can "enter" at the UPD office. However, the regular dorms are pretty easy to get into; I must say, though, they are a bit crowded and most people get sick of them quickly (Take a look; the average age in the dorms is only 18- everyone bails after they spend a year in them). Overall, I would recommend finding a place somwhere else in SLO; Mustang Village is pretty nice; They have studio apartments for around $645 per month, and they are literally across the street from school (When I was an undergrad I used to walk to a CSC 315 class; the amount of time walking from my door to the campus was less than 2 minutes).
