it also depends on what major your friend selected and what high school your friend came from...

I have a friend who went to a public school in LA...he had high 3 (3.7-3.8) gpa and he was ranked in the top 10% of his class...lol...that goes to show what the gpa of his classmates must have been like...btw...he also got accepted as an
"asian studies" major...

on the other hand...i went to private school in South OC...where only the top ranked AP/IB students with 4.3-5.0 gpa student-athletes got into UCLA...

...

anyways...back on topic...Cal Poly Pomona is a good school...especially good for Engineering...CPP is ranked 14th overall in the nation for its engineering program (ranked on the scale for school's that do NOT have a Master's program)...

I got a 1310 on my SAT score (took it once) and had a 3.3 gpa...I also got into UCR (without even applying...lol), UCSC, and UCD...
