Might be nice to share some of the funnier things that happen to us during the holidays, past or present. I'll start with my most recent Thanksgiving...

It was going to be a multi-family gathering at our house, and someone contributed a humongous turkey. It got stuffed and basted and put into the oven. A few hours later I hear periodic sizzling as some part of the turkey is dripping to the floor of the oven. I put in a couple drip pans to catch it. Half an hour later the house slowly starts to fill with white smoke. I open some windows and doors for circulation. At this point I was still in the house by myself, but just as my sweetheart comes home the oven starts to produce some black smoke. We run to the oven and see a little fire inside! THE OVEN IS ON FIRE!! Well not really, luckily it was just the grease in the drip pan. But it still produced a LOT of black smoke that made us choke and our eyes water. We had to take turns running to the bathroom or outside to gulp some clean air. We turn down the heat and let the fire burn itself out, then find that the turkey pan is brimming FULL of juices. Long story short, we were able to save the turkey and the house, and no one had to witness our comical running around.
